Conserving Energy. We use power-saving electric bulbs, automatic electric cut-off when you leave your room.
We have upgraded our generator to reduce diesel consumption. - Water. We have installed our own ground water pump, to reduce transport of water by tanker (a polluter).

Recycle. All plastic water bottles and containers of soap and shampoo are recycled.
All beer, wine and soft drink bottles are returned to the bottler, for reuse/recycle. -
Food waste Is sorted from 'dry waste' - and offered to farmers as pig food.
Dry waste is recycled, or disposed of via municipality service. - Paint. We use low-lead paint - to reduce the harmful effects of lead in the environment.
- Garden. Putting a little oxygen back into the city - symbolic, but nice.
Social Awareness
- Home and family - Hotel Moonlight has an inclusive and progressive social welfare program for our staff.
- Old furniture, electronics and materials are repaired and donated to the needy.and their families.
- Local welfare organisations receive donations, or the free/reduced cost for use of our conference hall.

Hotel Moonlight is a Supporting Partner to Beni Handicrafts . A recycled waste materials project.
Women are trained in tailoring skills to collect discarded waste materials, which they turn into fashionable and functional products for sale. Their profits supports STEPS social work.
Beni Freedom Kit-Bags - washable sanitary pad kits. Beni Handicrafts produces and STEPS distribute pad sets to girls/women in outlying mountain villages, free of charge. Ask Reception for more information. -
Mountain People 'Bring a Smile'. Our guests are encouraged to bring used clothing from home, and leave them at Moonlight Reception.
Your used trekking gear is also useful. These will be distributed fairly to 400 'squatters' who live in tin huts on the outskirts of Kathmandu. -
Your Organisation. Hotel Moonlight has partnered with dozens of individuals, learning institutes & NGOs.
